some travel tips…

travel tip number one: drink water. drink lots & lots of water.

travel tip number two: when you cannot read the map -

(because it’s in French and you got a C in Spanish II class sophomore year of college & decided maybe you weren’t meant to be one of those oh-so-clever-multi-lingual-people.)

Anyways,

When you cannot read the map, don’t under any circumstances look at that map and think:

“Well. Notre Dame & the Louvre & the Arc de Triomphe don’t look too terribly far apart. Let’s walk.”

  1. They are.
  2. No matter how lovely Paris is - after 8 hours on a plane your body already hates you enough.
  3. Most of the public toilets in Paris are out of order.
  4. So just take the blinking Metro. Seriously. Buy yourself a day pass and call it a jour.

travel tip number three:  do some research. you know, like google the city, even wikipedia isn’t you’re worst option. else you just end up with a bunch of lovely pictures of…well…you’re not quite sure.

travel tip number four: Paris really is a gorgeous city. Do yourself a favor and go. Just not necessarily the way we did.
